REQUIESCAT IN PACE

THE 1ST FIELD ARTILLERY REGIMENT THAT WAS CROWNED WITH THE OLDEST GLORY OF THE JAPANESE ARMY PARTICIPATED IN THE DECISIVE BATTLE OF LEYTE AND ALL ITS SOLDIERS DIED WITH HONOR IN THE BRAVE AND COURAGEOUS FIGHTING THAT TOOK PLACE IN THIS ISLAND LAST WORLD WAR II.

WE, THE ASSOCIATION OF HOO-1 HEREBY NAME THIS AREA HOO-1 HILL, THE MAIN POSITION OF THE ABOVE REGIMENT DURING THE MOST SEVERE BATTLE IN LEYTE AND BUILD A CENOTAPH TO COMMEMORATE THE HONORABLE SOULS AND OFFER OUR SINCERE PRAYERS TO ALL THOSE WHO SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES DURING THE WAR.

WE HOPE THAT THIS MONUMENT WILL SERVE AS A SYMBOLIC FOUNDATION FOR THE PEACE OF THE WORLD AND STRENGTHEN THE TIES OF FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN THE PEOPLE OF THE PHILIPPINES AND JAPAN.
